Building a mirror coat rack
Building the frame of the mirror
The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the mirror coat rack. As you can easily notice in the diagram, you need to build the vertical supports out of 1×3 lumber and the horizontal supports out of 1×6 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the vertical supports and secure them to the perpendicular components using 1 1/4″ screws. Add glue to the joints and remove the excess with a damp cloth. Use a router to make 1×4″ x 1/4″ rabbets to the interior face of the frame.
Fitting the back supports
The next step of the indoor woodworking project is to attach 1×2 supports to the back of the frame. In order to get a professional result, we recommend you to assemble the 1×2 frame using galvanized screws and glue. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the horizontal components and secure them to the vertical supports. Make sure the corners are square and leave no gaps between the components.
Fitting the mirror
Fit the mirror to the frame and lock it into place using appropriate clips. Work with attention and make sure the edges are flush.
Fitting the shelf supports
Continue the woodworking project by attaching the shelf supports to the bottom of the wooden frame. Mark the cut lines on a piece of 1×4 lumber and get the job done with a jigsaw. Smooth the curved edges with fine-grit sandpaper and remove the residues with a damp cloth. Drill pocket holes and attach the supports to the frame using 1 1/4″ screws and glue. Leave no gaps between the components.
Fitting the shelf
Build the shelf out of 1×4 lumber and fit it to the supports, making sure both edges are perfectly aligned. Drill pocket holes along the top of the supports and insert 1 1/4″ screws to create a rigid bond between the components. Add glue to the joints.
Fitting the hooks
Attach the hooks to the bottom of the wooden rack, making sure you place them equally-spaced. Choose an appropriate design that matches the style of the rest of the furniture in your home.

Last but not least, we recommend you to take care of the finishing touches. Fill the holes with wood filler and let it to dry out for several hours. Afterwards, smooth the wooden surface with fine-grit sandpaper and vacuum the residues.
